Popular Nigerian musician, Ajibola Danladi, also known as Danny Young, claims that the rise of social media put an end to oppression in the Nigerian music industry.
He said this when recalling how a powerful man purposefully excluded him from an award consideration.
In his most recent podcast, the singer highlighted that social media has reduced the authority that industry gatekeepers once had over creatives.
He said; “The good thing is that social media came to expose many of them because it gave people the opportunity to express themselves. That is what led to the emergence of what we call Gen Z.
“My definition of Gen Z is freedom of speech, freedom of rights, and freedom of expression.”
