Facing allegations of attempting to monopolise the oil industry in Nigeria, President Brice Nguema of Gabon has extended an invitation to Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Industries Limited, to consider investing in cement and fertiliser production in the country.
The media office of Dangote Group confirmed that the invitation was aimed at exploring potential investment opportunities in these sectors, particularly in urea and phosphate production.
During his visit, Dangote engaged in discussions with President Nguema and other government officials, focusing on the potential contributions of Dangote Industries to Gabon's economic growth through the establishment of cement and fertiliser plants.
President Nguema expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing Gabon's dedication to creating a favourable environment for foreign investments and highlighting the potential benefits such as job creation, technology transfer, and industrial capacity enhancement.
Dangote reiterated his company's commitment to promoting economic development in Africa and emphasised that investing in Gabon's cement and fertiliser sectors aligned with Dangote Industries' strategic vision of expanding its presence and supporting sustainable development across the continent.
