Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, decorating mother of Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila, as one of the patrons of the Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN), during the association’s Ramadan lecture and award ceremony in Lagos.

The former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola,  has called upon parents and guardians to prioritize the upbringing of their children.

He stated that this focus is essential for the development of families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

The former minister conveyed this message during the Ramadan Public Lecture and Award organized by the Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN).

The ex-Governor of Lagos State urged Muslim families across the nation to foster the creation of ideal and peaceful homes, emphasizing their pivotal role in nurturing a harmonious society.

“The significance of raising children with strong moral values cannot be overstated. The greater the number of virtuous individuals in our society, the more goodness will triumph,” he asserted.

He stressed the shared duty of parents and guardians to instill positive values in their children, in accordance with Islamic principles and the essence of Ramadan.

“We must all embrace the duty of parenting, following the values and virtues of Islam and the principles of peaceful and joyful coexistence embodied by Ramadan,” he declared.

Among those honored at the event were Fashola, the mother of Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila, and Chairman of Island Club, Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, who were recognized and designated as patrons of the association for their remarkable contributions to the community and the promotion of Islamic values.

The National President of MAN, Prof. Dhikrullah YagboYaju emphasized the direct link between peace within individual homes and overall national peace. “If our families are peaceful, our society will surely be at peace,” he asserted, noting that a stable home is a fundamental value of Islam and crucial for a stable society.

He urged families to adopt the teachings of Islam and cultivate environments filled with love and respect.

The Chairman of the Muslim Association of Nigeria, Lagos Branch, Alhaji Ismail Ogunbambi, mentioned that the event was intended to honor their members’ achievements and contributions to society.

“The awards presented today serve as a recognition of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to community enhancement and the promotion of Islam," he added.

Ogunbambi praised the awardees, stating: “Your selfless commitment and dedication to our association and community have not gone unnoticed. To our esteemed patrons, newly installed patrons, chairmen, chairpersons, distinguished guests, and honorees, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for your valued presence. May I continue to bless you, guide you, and grant you prosperity,” he prayed.

Justice Abdullah Adam Al-Ilory, the guest speaker, pointed out a complicated web of factors leading to marital discord, with social media and financial pressures being significant contributors.
