A Federal High Court in Kano has mandated the detention of a well-known local entrepreneur, Suleiman Aminu, commonly referred to as Danwawu, due to his alleged role in drug trafficking.
The ruling, made by Justice M.S. Shu’aibu, followed Aminu’s arraignment by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, on serious charges related to a long-standing drug syndicate.
According to a statement from the NDLEA’s public relations officer in Kano, Sadiq Muhammad, the accused has been a key player in the region’s illegal drug trade.
The agency highlighted that his activities have significantly contributed to the increase in substance abuse and insecurity in Kano and surrounding areas.
Aminu was arrested at his home during a coordinated operation led by the Nigeria Police Force, Kano Command, and was later transferred to the NDLEA, which carried out a follow-up operation that resulted in the seizure of more illegal substances.
“The arraignment of Danwawu represents a major breakthrough in the agency’s unyielding fight against drug-related offenses,” stated the NDLEA, reaffirming its dedication to dismantling criminal drug networks nationwide.
