A court has allowed the family of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, permission to conduct a second autopsy.
This comes after the family voiced discontent with the initial autopsy results, which were ruled inconclusive.
The autopsy results, which began in September 2023, were disclosed on June 7, however, they did not indicate the cause of death.
However, the Aloba family rejected the outcome and sought the Lagos State Government on June 16 to authenticate the autopsy's legitimacy due to public questions and conflicting claims.
Mohbad's family petitioned the presiding magistrate of the coroner's inquest to ensure that the court receives an independent toxicology analysis before the final report is presented to the authorities.
During a hearing on Wednesday, June 26 at a magistrate court in Ikorodu, Mohad’s family and their legal representatives were granted permission for a second autopsy,
The family and their legal team confirmed they received the court’s authorization to proceed with the additional autopsy.
At a press conference, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, expressed gratitude for the court’s decision to allow for a second autopsy.
He said: "I appreciate the responses all along to the death of Mohbad. We appreciate the judiciary for this decision. There is a reason for the government to instruct that we exhume Mohbad for them to know the cause of his death."
