A State High Court in Edo State on Friday overturned the suspension notice sent to Julius Abure, the Labour Party's beleaguered national chairman. The notification was given by certain party members at the ward level.
The lawsuit was rejected by the judge, Justice Emmanuel Aihamoje, for lack of merit.
The ruling was verified by the party's acting national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
He said that the court had essentially informed them today that the charade could no longer be entertained.
The decision was made following a lawsuit brought by Abure and the officials of LP Ward 3 in Esan North East of Edo State.
In his ruling, Justice Aihamaje stated that the Labour Party Constitution, in particular Acts 13 & 17 and the Electoral Act 2022, as modified, did not grant the executive in Uromi in ward 3 the authority to depose the national head of the party.
Lamidi Apapa and his faction were forbidden by the court in case no. HUC/21/2023 from posing as Labour Party executives.
A ward in the Labour Party (LP) branch in Edo State suspended Abure in March, causing a leadership crisis.
