COP29: 'Host Country' Agreement fully Agreed Upon

The final text of the "Host Country" Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change has been fully agreed upon.

Samir Nuriyev, Head of Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration and Chairman of the COP29 Organising Committee, stated during the sixth meeting of the committee held on Friday, August 16, 2024, that full inclusivity has been ensured regarding the invitations to the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change for the Leaders' Summit, scheduled to take place from November 12-13.

Nuriyev noted that the preparation for COP29 is progressing extensively under the supervision of President Ilham Aliyev, and highlighted the president's vision of building bridges between developed and developing countries, as expressed at the Shusha Global Media Forum held on July 20.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee stated that Azerbaijan is making sincere efforts to bridge the differences between developed and developing countries regarding the new financial target, and highlighted that on July 26-27 in Shamakhy, an innovative approach was discussed.
