The anticipated nationwide deployment of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas buses and tricycles, replacing petrol-powered vehicles, will take place on May 29, according to the Federal Government.
The Federal Executive Council, chaired by President Bola Tinubu, has mandated all government agencies to procure vehicles and generators powered by the CNG initiative.
The Programme Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Michael Oluwagbemi, announced that an extensive pre-launch itinerary will be carried out to engage stakeholders and showcase gas supply projects.
The itinerary includes engagements with South West stakeholders in Lagos, a virtual commissioning of gas supply projects, an inspection of the Jets and Mikano Factory, and meetings with South-South and South-East stakeholders in Port Harcourt.
Additionally, a six-day inspection tour of the Kojo Factory at the Enugu-Onitsha Site will be conducted to receive the first set of assembled tricycles, buses, cylinders, and kits for the official launch.
Oluwagbenga emphasized that on May 30, the 'Luojia Assembly Plant for CNG tricycles' will be inaugurated on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. These events symbolize important milestones in our efforts to achieve energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and economic prosperity for Nigeria.
The PCNGI is dedicated to fostering collaboration with all stakeholders as we pave the way for a cleaner and greener future.
These initiatives are a realization of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to drive Nigeria's energy transition in the transportation sector by utilizing CNG and promoting economic growth.
