The Federal Government announced on Thursday that the conversion of petrol and diesel-powered commercial vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) will be provided at no cost.
This declaration was made in Abuja after signing agreements with various companies involved in the conversion process
The initiative will benefit commercial transporters affiliated with unions such as the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, National Union of Road Transport Workers, and Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners.
The Programme Director/Chief Executive of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Michael Oluwagbemi, revealed this information to journalists after the signing of agreements with companies in Abuja.
He emphasized that unionised commercial operators would receive a 100% discount on conversion kits and installation through certified workshops, with plans to expand the programme nationwide.
He also said ride share operators would also be eligible for the initiative.
