POSTED ON August 30, 2023 •   Football      BY Lawrence Omoge •   VIEWS 128
Clement Lenglet, a French central defender for Barcelona, has agreed to spend the 2023–24 season on loan at Aston Villa. Later today, 30 August 2023, the Frenchman will fly to England to officially join Unai Emery's club before the transfer window ends. About 75% of his salary will be covered by Villa, while Barcelona will foot the bill for the rest of the season. Lenglet's Career

Lenglet began his professional career with Nancy, where he made 85 appearances after his 2013 debut and won Ligue 2 in the 2015-16 season. Before joining Barcelona for €35 million, he spent 18 months with Sevilla after signing there for €5.4 million in January 2017 and making 73 appearances in which he scored 4 goals. Last season, he played 35 games for Tottenham, but the club decided against a permanent contract.

Lenglet's Move to Aston Villa

It was anticipated that Villa would make a move to remedy the big setback caused by Tyrone Mings' injury on the first weekend of the Premier League season. Lenglet is anticipated to fill in for Mings, who will be out for a long time due to a devastating knee injury he suffered in Villa's 5-1 opening day loss to Newcastle. Rocketparrot reports it is possible that more people will leave Barcelona this week. Eric, Ez Abde, and Ansu Fati have all been connected to departures from the club. Abde is rumored to be exploring a move since he wants to play more frequently this season, and rumors have it that Tottenham is interested in Fati.
