Novak Djokovic won a record seventh ATP Finals title after beating Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the final in Turin, Italy, on Sunday.

The 36-year-old Serb won 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 43 minutes to collect his 26th ATP Finals win and move clear of Pete Sampras, who shares second place with Ivan Lendl on five.

Novak Djokovic earlier beat Carlos Alvarez in the semifinals and now beats Sinner in the ATP Finals.

Djokovic, who also won the Australian Open and French Open this year, lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, was playing his first tournament since the US Open in September.

"It's obviously a very special week," said Djokovic, who won his first ATP Finals title in 2008. "I'm very proud of the performance that I have shown this week. I think I played great tennis from the start."

Sinner, 22, was playing in his first ATP Finals and was looking to become the youngest winner of the tournament since Lendl in 1982.

"I think I played a good match," said Sinner. "Obviously, he's a great champion and a very tough opponent. I gave my all, but he was just better."

Djokovic broke Sinner's serve in the fourth game of the first set and then again in the sixth game of the second set to secure victory.

The Serb won 74% of his first-serve points and converted both of his break points, while Sinner won only 58% of his first-serve points and converted only one of his four break points.

Following his victory, the 36-year-old is eyeing a clean sweep of the majors next year as well as the singles gold medal at the Paris Olympics, to claim a 'Golden Slam'.

Only Steffi Graf has won all four Grand Slam singles titles (Australian, French, and U.S.), as well as Wimbledon and an Olympic gold medal (Seoul, 1988).

Djokovic's victory means he has now won at least one title every year since 2006. He is also the oldest winner of the ATP Finals since Rod Laver in 1970.
