A tragic roadside explosion claimed the lives of six employees of Hormuud Telecom on the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, the company confirmed on Monday.
According to a statement released by Hormuud Telecom, the deadly incident occurred in the Garasbaley district, where the employees fell victim to what the company described as a “roadside bomb attack.”
Al Shabaab, active in Somalia for nearly two decades, has consistently waged an insurgency, targeting both civilian and military establishments.
The group’s objective is to overthrow the federal government and impose its own governance system, which adheres to a strict interpretation of Sharia law.
