Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi became trending worldwide after his wife discovered he owned nothing despite earning millions of Euros with Paris Saint Germain and the Moroccan national football team.

This finding was uncovered during ongoing divorce procedures in court after the footballer's wife, Hiba Abouk, requested a divorce and sought to divide all of the footballer's assets equally.

She was shocked to learn that Hakimi, 24, had placed all of his assets and funds in his mother's name and that he frequently asked her to purchase items for him.

Millions of dollars in pay were deposited in accounts with his mother's name on them, along with all of his homes, cars, clothes, and jewellery.

According to reports, his mother's name is on the title of 80% of everything he owns.

In 2018, the pair started dating; they were married in 2020; and had two boys, she filed for divorce sometime in March 2023.

The fact that Hakimi was under investigation in Paris, France, for alleged rape, even though his marriage to the Spanish actress had already been deteriorating for months, was the last straw.

Hakimi's decision to protect his assets by not having them registered in his name made headlines worldwide, some praised him for being "wise" and "a living legend" for doing so, while others criticized him and his mother.
