The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State chapter, has given its endorsement to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office. The chairman of the association, Rev. (Dr.) Stephen Adegbite, made the announcement during a press conference at the Chapel of Christ The Light in Ikeja.
Adegbite commended Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for their performance in critical sectors of the economy, stating that their achievements are endearing and must be sustained. He emphasized that the endorsement was based solely on performance and nothing else.
The CAN chairman listed several achievements of the current administration, including the multibillion naira Imota Rice Mill project, foreign direct investments through the Lekki Free Trade Zone, completion of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, and the repositioning of the health sector through the building of more health centres at the grassroots and the implementation of a free health policy for children under 18 years and adults above 65 years of age.
Adegbite stated that these projects, programmes, and policies are capable of creating employment opportunities for youths and strengthening the state's economic fortunes. He further explained that the endorsement was not meant to discredit any other candidate but was guided by an objective sense of history.
He concluded by urging Lagos residents to support Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Hamzat, in their bid for a second term, emphasizing that their performance and consistency make them the right choice to lead the state for the next four years.
