To commemorate the nation's democratic transition, President Muhammadu Buhari has given his approval for the awarding of national honors to 338 Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.
This information was revealed in a circular sent out on Sunday in Abuja by Mrs. Ibiene Roberts, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.
There was only one candidate for the position of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 21 candidates for Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), and 78 candidates for Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR), according to the circular.
"Other names include 85 for the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON), 52 for the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 22 for the Member of the Order of Niger (MON), and 3 for the Federal Republic Medal (FRM).
"On or before Wednesday, May, all award recipients must submit paper copies and electronic versions of their citations and resumes to the Secretary, National Honours Award Committee, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs (FMSDIGA).
"They will then visit the FMSDIGA office at the Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Central Business District, on Thursday, June 1 to pick up their Certificates and Medals."
