Dr. Baba Haruna has been appointed as the rector of the Federal Polytechnic in Bida, with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This is stated in a letter that Alhaji Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, signed and distributed to newsmen in Bida on Wednesday.
The appointment is for a period of five years and becomes effective on May 2.
"I am writing to inform you that President Muhammadu Buhari has given his blessing to your nomination as rector of the Federal Polytechnic in Bida, Niger State.
He said, "The terms and conditions of service, including compensation and fringe benefits, shall be in accordance with those approved for Rectors of Federal Polytechnic."
Buhari wished the incoming rector a prosperous time in office and congratulated him.
Haruna served as the polytechnic's Director of Quality Assurance prior to his appointment.
