The current Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been named by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff.
The chief of staff to Gbajabiamila, Olanrenwaju Smart Wasiu, confirmed this.
Gbajabiamila was chosen by the president following many hours of talks and discussions, according to Smart.
Having not yet received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Gbajabiamila would have to renounce his election to the House of Representatives for a sixth term.
After a final meeting with stakeholders that concluded on Thursday morning at the Villa in Abuja, the president reportedly chose Gbajabiamila, according to Smart.
