The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been immediately removed from his position by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Willie Bassey, Director, Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said in a succinct statement on Friday night that it is in response to an inquiry being conducted by his office and upcoming banking sector reforms.
Emefiele has been instructed to immediately transfer control of his office's business to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will serve as the Central Bank Governor while the inquiry and reforms are ongoing.
