NASARAWA, Nigeria- The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule on Friday has officially disbanded the State Executive Council (SEC) effective immediately.
The announcement was made by the Governor himself following an extensive meeting of the Exco.
The dissolution affects all commissioners, special advisers, and senior special assistants, including the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma-Aliyu.
This news was confirmed by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice for Nasarawa State, Labaran Magaji on his Facebook page on Friday night.
Magaji wrote, “Following an emergency EXCO meeting held this evening in the council chamber Government House Lafia, the Governor in council announced the dissolution of Nasarawa State Executive Council, thereby bringing my tenure as the Honourable Attorney-General of Nasarawa State to an end. I sincerely thank His Excellency Engr Abdullahi Sule FNSE for giving me the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity, and I also appreciate the management and staff of the Ministry of Justice Lafia for all the support given to me to register such a modest success in the management of our justice system in the state. My appreciation also goes to members of the State security architecture for their unwavering support too. To friends, family and well-wishers, i sincerely thank you for the unending solidarity.”
Nonetheless, it is worth noting that in 2021, during his initial term, the governor disbanded the state executive council, stating the necessity for a more effective and efficient governance framework.
He also disbanded his cabinet in 2023 in preparation for his second-term inauguration as governor.
