The national grid system in Nigeria, operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) from Osogbo, Osun State, experienced a collapse in the early hours of Thursday, leaving many areas without electricity.
Several Distribution Companies (Discos) in the country confirmed the national grid collapse, reporting that most of their feeders are out of service as a result.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) issued a statement stating that a "total system collapse" occurred at 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, leading to a loss of power supply across their network.
Due to this grid failure, EEDC indicated that all its interface TCN stations are without power supply, and it will be unable to provide electricity services to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
EEDC mentioned that they are awaiting detailed information regarding the grid collapse and the restoration of power supply from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.
The General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, Ndidi Mbah, stated that the public would receive updates about the situation, implying that efforts are underway to restore power and address the issue,

“This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network,” the company said in a statement signed by Emeka Ezeh,
Due to this development, the distribution company said all its interface TCN stations are out of supply, and it will be unable to provide service to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo,” it said.
