The Governing Council, Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, has appointed Professor Ediga Bede Agbo as the acting Vice Chancellor.
This appointment is coming after the suspension of the institution’s pioneer VC, Professor Innocent Ujah, for alleged gross misconduct and willful disregard for the Council’s authority.
This information was contained in a statement by the university’s Coordinator of Information, Publication, and Public Relations, James Onogwu.
Professor Agbo’s appointment was made during a special meeting of the Governing Council held on October 17, 2024, presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Ohieku Salami, according to the statement.
The statement read in part, “Professor Ediga Bede Agbo has been appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo.
“This decision was reached at a special meeting of the Governing Council, chaired by the Pro-Chancellor.”
The embattled VC, Professor Ujah, upon the new appointment declined to provide details when reached, stating that the committee handling the matter would hear from him soon.
