The Benin Development Union (BeDU) has announced that it will take action against individuals using the legal action filed by some Benin Dukes (Enigie) against the Oba of Benin in Edo State High Court to disrupt the peace and harmony in the state as the September 21 governorship election approaches.
Director of Legal Services for BeDU, Sgt. Joseph Otamere Uwumarenogie (rtd), stated this in a press release in Benin City on Saturday.
Uwumarenogie claimed that those instigating the conflict were former leaders of disbanded Community Development Associations (CDA) in certain communities who may be attempting a comeback but have consistently been unsuccessful.
He stated that the union between Oba Ewuare II Ogidigan and Governor Godwin Obaseki in 2016 brought divine blessings to Edo State, leading to the eradication of the Community Development Associations (CDAs) from the state.
Those who were benefiting from the disbanded CDAs are unhappy and are attempting to disrupt the collaboration between the Oba of Benin and the state governor.
It is widely known in Edo South Senatorial District that the dissolved CDAs are attempting a comeback through the Association of Okaegheles, but their resurgence is strongly opposed.
