The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has commended the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) across the nation for their role in ensuring credible election processes.
Gov. Mohammed gave the applause during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch “A” Stream 1 Corps Members at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
The Governor, ably represented by his Deputy, Auwal Jatau, highlighted the NYSC members' contributions to electoral matters, noting that they have consistently brought credibility and stability to the processes. He also acknowledged their efforts in raising awareness about deadly pandemics and promoting humanity.
He added that many corps members would receive training on Sustainable Development Goals and awareness campaigns related to the Freedom of Information Act.
Gov. Mohammed however stated the government's appreciation for the efforts of all training agencies, stressing the state's commitment to promoting the NYSC scheme for the benefit of all.
He emphasized the NYSC's role in instilling values of industry, hard work, patriotism, and loyalty among youths, which has positively impacted the country's socio-economic development through community efforts.
He reassured the government's commitment to prioritizing the welfare and security of corps members across the state.
On the other hand, the state Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Rifkatu Yakubu, highlighted that the orientation course aims to prepare corps members mentally, physically, and emotionally for their service year.
Yakubu, in a shocking revelation, noted that out of the total registered corps members, 1,276 individuals comprising 697 males and 579 females have successfully adjusted to the camp environment.
