Hansi Flick has been announced as the new head coach of Barcelona, succeeding former boss Xavi Hernandez.
Flick, who previously managed Bayern Munich and the German national team, has signed a two-year contract with the club.
The 59-year-old coach boasts an impressive resume, including back-to-back Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Champions League victory with Bayern Munich as part of a historic treble.
Barcelona confirmed Flick's appointment ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
An official statement from the club read: "FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement for the German to be the coach of the men's first team until June 30, 2026.
"The new coach signed a contract at the club's offices in an event with the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta; the first vice-president in charge of the sports area, Rafa Yuste; and the club's sports director, Anderson Luís de Souza, Deco."
Flick's coaching career spans 28 years, having managed the German national team, Bayern Munich, and TSG Hoffenheim. He also served as the sporting director of the German Football Association from 2014 to 2017.
Most recently, Flick managed Germany after replacing Joachim Low following UEFA Euro 2020 in 2021.
However, Germany's performance under his leadership was disappointing, as they were eliminated in the group stages of the 2022 Qatar World Cup for the second consecutive campaign.
Flick was dismissed after a 4-1 defeat to Japan, marking the third loss in a row.
Before his national team role, Flick rejoined Bayern Munich in 2019 and led the team to significant successes, including two Bundesliga titles, a Champions League title, the DFB-Pokal, DFL-Supercup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
Barcelona looks forward to a new era under Flick's experienced leadership as they aim for future success.
