The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has directed the troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to capture a notorious bandits' head, identified simply as Turji.
The minister issued the order in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, while in the state to receive briefings on military operations on Thursday.
Abubakar, who spoke while addressing troops at the One Brigade Headquarters, said President Bola Tinubu was pleased with the progress made by the troops in combating banditry over the past few months.
He said, “President Bola Tinubu has recognised some level of improvement in the operation against terrorists in the region over the last few months.”
He said despite the troops operations, challenges remained, as bandits continued to terrorise the region’s population.
Addressing the troops, Abubakar reiterated the President's commitment to back troops against bandits, urging the soldiers to intensify their efforts.
He said, “President Tinubu has asked me to thank you and to also encourage you to do more in ending insecurity in these operational areas.
“He is ready to supply everything you need to eliminate insecurity in the northwest and across Nigeria.”
“Are you ready to finish them off? Are you ready to end banditry in this country? Please get me Turji, dead or alive,” he added.
The minister was received by the Commander, Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Fansar Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, and the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Mani Mummun.
