Popular Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has apologized to legendary musician, King Sunny Ade for disrespecting him at an event.
Netizens dragged the Mavins Records star on social media for disrespecting King Sunny Ade and Burna Boy's mother.
In a clip going viral on the internet, the Rush crooner snubbed Burna Boy's mother, extended her greeting to another woman sitting beside her, and also greeted the legendary musician King Sunny Ade by shaking his hands.
Following the backlash from meaningful Nigerians, the singer posted on her official X platform on Saturday morning to tender a public apology as she further explained what transpired.
She said: “I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves did not let me see, but I came back to greet everyone properly. I have never been that girl to be disrespectful; I’m a proper Yoruba girl and the video didn’t start until after I had greeted Burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade.”
Ayra Starr is a Beninese-born Nigerian singer. She began a fashion career at the age of 16 with Quove Model Management before deciding to pursue a music career.
After covering several songs by popular artists on Instagram, she posted her first original song on her page in December 2019.
This brought her to the attention of record executive Don Jazzy, who signed her to his record label Mavin Records.
