The residents and landlords of Egan are protesting over illegal toll fees at the Egan-Ayobo road, in Lagos State.
The Egan-Ayobo road is a state road that was started during the governor Akinwunmi Ambode admistration but till now still in a dilapidated stated as commuter pay through tgeir noise to pass through the road and some even loses their live in this process
A landlord and resident of Egan community who identify himself as Eye, said the Olayemi community CDA has turn the road to business as they collect toll fee from commuters.
The chairman of the Okada at Igesu, Noah said the toll fee is for the development of the road as the state's government has abandoned the road to be taking care by the community.
The okada riders plying the route said they have been collecting money from they and are given tickets before they can ply the road.
The Personal Assistant to Ikotun local government LCDA, mr Oseni who ply the route everyday when asked to give his view on the toll fee said he cannot comment at the moment.
The olayemi CDA chairman when called through the phone did not pick his call
Okada riders and Egan residents have block the route not allowing passers-by to commute.
The chairman of the Olayemi CDA who doubled as the General oversea of Majemu ododo model parish; a celestial church located at Olayemi road, Faro Ifadurodoye,said the N600 ticket is for security reasons.
He said "the money generated on the road is to provide security on the road and to create employment for the youth who are jobless."
When asked on whether the government is aware of the toll fee; He said "For any reason an educated person should know that the authority knows about the toll."
