Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have got off to the perfect start to the new season despite the managerial change, alternation in tactics and financial struggles.
The manager’s novel 4-2-3-1 system brings a new direct and attack-oriented approach to the team with several players shining in the new setup. One player who has heavily benefited from the change is Raphinha.
From staring at the exit door less than a month ago to becoming the team’s most important player on the field, the Brazilian has come a long way in limited time. As revealed by Fichajes, however, his future is still unclear.
Interest from the Premier League
The Spanish outlet relays that Aston Villa are looking to strengthen their depth in attack ahead of the new season and are thus looking for potential candidates who can arrive.
Raphinha appears to be one of their top targets in that regard for the ongoing summer transfer window.
Unai Emery, Aston Villa’s manager, admires the Barcelona star’s profile and sees him as a perfect candidate to fill the void created by Moussa Diaby’s departure.
Unlike a month ago, however, Badvelona no longer see Raphinha to se a saleable asset at this point in time despite their dire financial situation.
The Brazilian is a crucial piece in Hansi Flick’s puzzle and a departure at this point would be a massive blow to the club who have no means to rope in a replacement of similar calibre.
Less than a week remains on the transfer market and it remains to be seen if Aston Villa place any pressure on Barcelona in the coming days. Yet, it is safe to say that the player appears closer to staying than leaving.
In three games so far this season, the forward has created four big chances, averages three key passes per game and has one assist to his name.
Further, he completes two dribbles per game and has missed two big chances.
