Arsenal Set to Initiate Discussions with Victor Osimhen's Agents by Charlie Campbell, March 9, 2025.
As reported by Caught Offside, Arsenal is gearing up to meet with the agents of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen regarding a possible transfer this summer.
Currently, the Gunners find themselves 16 points shy of Premier League leaders Liverpool, holding 2 games in hand. Their title hopes have been hindered by the lack of a high-profile striker.
To strengthen their attacking options, the club is expected to bolster the centre-forward position this summer, with Osimhen being one of the candidates under consideration by the management.
Arsenal is prepared to commence preliminary talks with the player’s representatives to discuss the transfer possibilities.
However, they will likely encounter competition from clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain for the 26-year-old, who has a release clause of 63 million in his contract.
Osimhen was previously linked to a move to Chelsea last summer, but negotiations fell through due to disagreements over his salary. The Nigerian forward was not willing to accept a significant wage reduction to join the Blues. Instead, he joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2024/25 season, where he has excelled, scoring 22 goals and providing 5 assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
Osimhen may be seeking a bigger challenge this summer, and a move to the Premier League with Arsenal could be on the cards, as the club has been in need of a standout striker to lead their line.
Kai Havertz scored 15 goals before a season-ending injury, but Arsenal requires an upgrade on the German, who has missed key opportunities in crucial matches.
Gabriel Jesus has also not been the answer; the Brazilian forward has struggled with injuries during his time at Arsenal and may miss a substantial part of the year after suffering a severe knee injury.
Osimhen, whom manager Jose Mourinho described as ‘world-class’, would be an excellent addition to enhance Arsenal's forward options without significantly denting their summer budget.
