The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, on Monday, resigned due to the controversial handling of the party's audit report.
This move has prompted President Bola Tinubu and the governors elected under APC to begin looking for active replacements for the now vacant offices.
Adamu and Omisore's resignations were officially confirmed during an emergency meeting held by the National Working Committee at the party headquarters in Abuja.
Per the party's constitution, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Sen. Abubakar Kyari & Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter on Monday assumed office as acting National Chairman & acting National Secretary.

It has been revealed that the contention over the audit of the party's account, refusal to provide party account details for a year, lack of transparency, violation of the party's constitution, and the exclusion of the National Working Committee's input in decision-making were key factors that led to Adamu and Omisore's downfall.
The final straw that led to their resignation was the hiring of an external auditor to conduct an audit of the party's financial accounts without the consent of the NWC or NEC.

After the audit was completed, Adamu and Omisore unilaterally forwarded it to INEC, raising suspicions and causing concern among party members, including President Bola Tinubu and the APC governors.
Omisore's attempt to attend the NWC meeting was met with resistance as he was prevented from entering the venue, signifying his loss of relevance within the party.
During the NWC parley, Kyari confirmed that Omisore has been replaced by Festus Fuanter, the Deputy National Secretary of the party, who has assumed the position of Acting National Secretary.
The party leadership now faces the task of stabilizing the situation and ensuring a smooth transition with new officials taking the helm.
