The West African regional bloc, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has again re-elected Nigerian President Bola Tinubu as its Chairman.
Following the development, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, in a statement hailed the President's re-appointment.
Tinubu was first elected in July 2023 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, to steer the affairs of the regional bloc for a one-year term.
The President was re-elected on Sunday, July 7, 2024, by a unanimous decision of fellow Heads of Government at the 65th Ordinary Session of the Authority held in Abuja.
In Thursday’s congratulatory message, Morka emphasised that Tinubu’s re-election was a testament to ECOWAS’ confidence in his inspiring leadership.
He said, “We are proud that his leadership acumen continues to resonate beyond our borders. Given President Tinubu’s reflexive understanding of the critical essence of the regional body and the roadmap to achieving it, we are confident that he will consolidate his accomplishments thus far and steer the Authority to greater heights.
“We pray for more wisdom and grace upon President Tinubu in his discharge of this important assignment, and as he continues to bring honour to our great party and dear nation.”
