In a decisive victory at the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary held at Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo over the weekend, Aminu Ibrahim Malle emerged as the party's candidate for the forthcoming bye-election in Jalingo-Yorro-Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State.
Malle secured a notable 41 votes, outshining competitors such as Mohammed Alkali, Abdulmumini Hamza, and Bilyaminu Umar in the tightly contested race.
The bye-election was prompted by the unfortunate demise of Ismaila Maihanci, who had previously clinched the seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Lawan Isma’ila, announced Malle’s victory and commended the fairness of the electoral process. Isma’ila urged unsuccessful contenders to join forces with Malle to ensure a resounding victory against the PDP in the election scheduled for February 3rd.
Expressing confidence in the APC's ability to triumph in the poll, State Chairman Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi called on the election umpire to guarantee a level playing field for all candidates and parties.
APC Publicity Secretary in the State, Aaron Artimas, praised the mature conduct of the delegates during the primary. He emphasized that the election was conducted by the Electoral Committee appointed by the National Secretariat, ensuring a conducive environment without interference.
APC stalwart Alhaji Tukur Sambo Sintali and party member Silas Gani lauded the efforts of State Chairman El-Sudi for revitalizing the party in Taraba State. The stage is now set for a dynamic electoral battle as the APC rallies behind Aminu Ibrahim Malle in the upcoming bye-election.
