Manchester United has released an official statement confirming that Brazilian winger Antony will return to training and be available for selection after being suspended to address allegations of assault made against him earlier this month.
The statement reads,
"Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so”.
"As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case”.
"As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse”.
Antony's earlier suspension
After being left off Brazil's squad for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru on September 10, Manchester United suspended Antony.

The 23-year-old man was charged for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin on two separate instances, one in June 2022 and another in May of this year. Additional complaints were made by two more Brazilian women. On the other hand,
Antony has refuted all of the claims made against him.
Antony's return to training
Antony returned to England earlier this week and attended a voluntary interview with Greater Manchester Police on Thursday.
He was free to go home at the end of the meeting with no restrictions.
Since Antony has not yet been arrested or charged in Brazil or the UK, the winger may still be reintegrated into the squad. There is, however, no possibility that the winger will be part of the team to play against Crystal Palace in their next Premier League game.
However, the club will keep the situation under review for as long as police inquiries continue.
