ANAMBRA, Nigeria — The Anambra State Executive Council on Thursday approved over N1 billion for the installation of solar-powered street lights in Awka.
The contracts for the project were awarded to VIGEO-DOME LTD: ₦460.7 million for a three-month project; FRANKTORCH NIG LTD: ₦385.6 million for 346 solar street lights, to be delivered in two months; Conifer Konstruction Nig Ltd: ₦200 million for producing and installing 500 fluorescent.
The Council also approved the rehabilitation of the vandalized substation at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam campus.
The ₦228.1 million contract was awarded to Kohl Ventures.
In support of local commerce, Crystal Dove Construction Company will construct 151 open stalls at Afuzo Market, Isuofia, Aguata LGA.
The health sector also received a boost with approval for the supply and installation of medical equipment at Specialist Hospital, Onitsha, and General Hospital, Anaku. CHRISLAUG LTD will execute the project.
Other contracts include: Road-marking of Amawbia flyover motorway and adjoining roads, awarded to Allpee International Ltd for ₦118.7 million, with a six-week completion timeline.
Recently, the Council approved tax exemptions for businesses with capital below ₦100,000 and delegated sanitation powers to local governments.
