AMVCA 2025: Recognizing Groundbreaking Talent in African Storytelling

The 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA11) are officially underway!

Now in its 11th edition, the AMVCAs continue to spotlight the best of African film, television, and digital storytelling, celebrating the actors, creators, and productions that have shaped the industry over the past year. From unforgettable performances to groundbreaking projects, tonight’s show promises glamour, excitement, and well-deserved recognition.

This year’s nominations recognise works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024. Leading the pack are Lisabi: The Uprising, Skeleton Coast, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way, with multiple nods in major categories including Best Movie and Best Director.

In the acting categories, Gideon Okeke (Tokunbo), Stan Nze (Suspicion), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), and Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising) are nominated for Best Lead Actor. Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre), and Uche Montana (Thinline) are among the contenders for Best Lead Actress.
