The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adeleye Adetunji has disclosed intensifying security measures against the kidnappers in Ekiti state has turned to seek refuge in Ondo state.
Adetunji made the disclosure while speaking to reporters during the parade of 43 suspected criminals apprehended in various locations across the state for various offenses.
He emphasized the significant increase in the arrest of suspected kidnappers within Ondo State, attributing this trend to the increased security presence in Ekiti.
He stated, "I want to trace this to the heavy presence of security personnel in Ekiti and I want to believe that they are being driven to Ondo State, but we want to tell you that Ondo State can never be a haven for criminals."
The Amotekun commander stressed the Amotekun Corps' commitment to combating criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, by swiftly responding to incidents and apprehending perpetrators.
"We have risen to the challenge and all of them that we have picked in kidnap scenes, during kidnap, and during attempts to kidnap with credible victims around to identify some of them, are the ones we are parading today," he affirmed.
Furthermore, Adetunji addressed ongoing efforts to enhance security along the state's borders, particularly the borders with Kogi and Edo States. He underscored the importance of collaboration with neighboring states to effectively tackle cross-border criminal activities.
Regarding recent incidents reported on social media, Adetunji clarified that such occurrences often arise in areas lacking grassroots local security infrastructure. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude for the collaboration of communities in addressing security challenges and emphasized the continued vigilance of Amotekun operatives.
