Chibuike Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, has called Nyesom Wike, the current governor, a drunk.
Amaechi asserts that Wike spends N50 million on alcohol each week and claims that the governor is preparing to run for a third term through Siminalayi Fubara, the PDP candidate for governor of the state.
Amaechi made this statement on Tuesday during a campaign stop for Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominee for governor of the state, in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area. The governorship and state house of representatives elections are scheduled for March 18, 2023.
The former governor yelled that the amount of State money that the governor alone was wasting on beer was enough to begin and finish initiatives that would be of enormous service to the people of the state.
Amaechi claimed that during his tenure as governor, he constructed primary schools with roughly the same amount of money as Wike spends on alcohol every two weeks.
Amaechi asserted that the reason why the state's citizens are still celebrating him (Amaechi) today is because of the wonderful deeds he did in the state without coming out in public to insult anyone. He claimed to have learned this information directly from Wike's alcohol supplier.
"Wike spends N50 million on alcohol each week, according to the person from whom he purchases it. The primary schools we built cost N112 million, which indicates that Wike has drunk one primary school in the last two weeks, according to Amaechi, a former minister of transportation.
"When Wike speaks, liquor is the one speaking. And he’s so blatant about it. On live television, Wike announced to the entire world that he started his morning with a very pricey 40-year-old whisky.
"We are requesting impartiality from INEC. The populace has disapproved of Wike and his administration. They were climbing on top of me and shouting in every street I went."
