Owodunni Ibrahim, better known by his stage name, Primeboy, an ally of late Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has sued the Nigeria Police Force for alleged violations of his fundamental human rights.
Recall that the Lagos State Police Command had declared Primeboy wanted on October 4, 2023, after he allegedly failed to respond to a police invitation since the commencement of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's death.
Primeboy's lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, told PUNCH Metro in a brief statement on Thursday that the lawsuit was submitted to the Federal High Court in Lagos, Ikoyi region.
The statement read: “Primeboy has sued the police via an originating motion filed before the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos on October 11.
"He prayed the court for a couple of reliefs, some of which included a declaration that the Special Police Gazette bulletin issued by the office of the IGP declaring Primeboy wanted as a contravention of Primeboy’s right to respect for the dignity of his human person. Primeboy also prayed the court to delist his name from the wanted list among other prayers."
Since Mohbad's passing, Primeboy has been at the centre of the scandals surrounding the death of his departed ally.
Additionally, he reportedly turned himself in to the police just twenty-four hours after being listed as wanted.
At the age of 27, Mohbad passed away on September 12. The circumstances surrounding his passing have continued to spark debates on social media.
Mohbad was a previous signee of Naira Marley's record label, Marlian Music, which he quit in February 2022.
A 13-person special investigative team was established by the state police command on September 18, 2023, to look into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, commonly known as Sam Larry, were also arrested as a result of Mohbad's passing.
In order to determine the cause of Mohbad's death, his remains were exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy.
