As the 2024 governorship elections draws near in Edo State, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the state, Olumide Akpata, has vowed to revampes the education system of the state if elected into office.
Akpata spoke during his visit to the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin City, the state capital.
He lamented the dilapidated conditions of schools in the state, even as he pleaded to restore the state varsity; Ambrose Alli University, which he described as a disaster.
The Edo governorship candidate said, “We have a problem as far as the roads are concerned. The Labour Party is here for the rescue, we have a plan.
“The education curriculum should also be reviewed so that technology will become a major part of it. Any child not taught technology in today’s world will become a functional illiterate.”
He said his administration would put the people at the centre of governance.
The LP candidate also promised to revamp the health sector and build healthcare centres in the 192 wards of the state to provide quality healthcare for the people.
