Ondo state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has nominated the former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami to serve together with him as the new deputy governor.
The governor forwarded Adelami's name to the state House of Assembly for ratification. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, Ebenezer Adeniyan, officially confirmed this nomination.
Adelami who has been a 2020 governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress, hails from the Owo area of the state and retired from the National Assembly in April 2018.
The governor also dissolved members of the state executive council giving directives to all members of the Cabinet, Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Special Assistants (SAs) to hand over government properties in their possession.
Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, also made the announcement on Wednesday.
The directive emphasizes that the officials should hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices. Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the outgoing officials for their services and contributions to the development of the state.
It's noteworthy that Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office in December 2023 following the demise of the former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away in Germany from leukemia. Akeredolu's body was flown back to Nigeria earlier in January, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Ondo State under Governor Aiyedatiwa's leadership.
