Passengers who boarded a privately owned plane, including a serving minister, escaped death on Friday evening when their plane reportedly went off track into the jungle at Ibadan Airport, in the Alakia region of Oyo State capital.
The Power Minister, Abdul Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, and his entourage narrowly escaped as passengers on the plane.
There was no recorded loss of life or property as men from the State Fire Services, Federal Fire Services, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Fire Services worked together to bring the situation under control.
According to reports, the plane took off from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Yemi Adeyimika, General Manager of the State Fire Service, confirmed the occurrence, saying, "Yes, it is true. Our men are on their way, but I don't have details now."
He stated that his personnel came to the scene on time but were greeted by other fire services from other agencies.
What could have been a catastrophic loss was averted in time.
There was no loss of life or property because the situation was brought under control.
When the control tower lost contact with the aircraft, it promptly notified the emergency services.
The three cabin crew members and the seven passengers, including the minister, were all rescued from the damaged aircraft. No one was injured in the incident.
