President Bola Tinubu has stated that Africa possesses the necessary resources to foster its own development and should focus on enhancing intra-African trade for the benefit of its people and the continent as a whole.
The president made this remark on his official X account on Monday, noting that he had productive discussions with Rwandan President Paul Kagame ahead of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025).
"We have the resources, the people, and the capacity. We must look inward to enhance intra-African trade and collaboration for the benefit of the African populace and the continent. The time for Africa is now. We can. We must. We will," Tinubu emphasized.
He left Abuja on January 11 to take part in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Mohamed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, extended an invitation to Tinubu to attend the summit, scheduled to occur in the Emirate from January 12 to 18.
The summit aims to gather global leaders to expedite sustainable development and promote socioeconomic advancement.
Titled "The Nexus of Next; Supercharging Sustainable Progress," the event will provide a platform for policymakers, business leaders, and civil society to explore strategies for accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy and ushering in a new era of prosperity for all.
