Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) organizers have revealed the date and location of the 14th edition.
At a press conference on Wednesday at the Eko Hotel Lagos, AFWL creator Ronke Ogunwusi introduced this year's edition, titled 'Traditional Fabrics and Royal Regalia,' which aims to promote African talent and innovation around the world.
This one-of-a-kind theme promises to provide a new perspective on African fashion and will take place on October 11 and 12, 2024, at the Kensington and Chelsea Conference & Events Centre in London.
The AFWN (Africa Fashion Week Nigeria) 2024 will take place from December 7 to 9, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel on Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria.
Explaining the inspiration behind the theme, Mrs Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said it had to do with royalty.
“We all know that our Adire is trending at the moment. Some things I wear are Adjire, and people don’t even believe it’s Adire. So, the traditional fabrics talk more about Adire and other conventional fabrics of Africa, like the kente, the mud cloth, and fabrics like that. And then the royal Adire, of course, I’m a royal. So I have to try to infuse."
