Former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Olayide Adelami who was nominated for deputy governor has gotten approval from the Ondo State House of Assembly.
He got the approval yesterday during a Thursday plenary presided over by Speaker Olamide Oladiji.
Recall that the Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa had nominated Adelami on Wednesday for the position of Deputy governor.
The Deputy Speaker, Abayomi Akinruntan presented the report of the screening committee, noting that Adelami has been conclusively confirmed to possess a reputable character, extensive exposure, and both physical and mental fitness for the position.
In response, Adelami expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve the state. He emphasized that his appointment was a call of duty and pledged to work towards the development of Ondo State and the nation as a whole. Additionally, he promised to promote a harmonious relationship between the state executive and the legislature.
Speaker Oladiji, pledged his support, assuring Adelami that the legislature would provide the executive with the necessary support at all times. He underscored that the confirmation of Dr. Adelami actively sets the stage for the rapid development of Ondo State.
It is noteworthy that Governor Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as Ondo governor on December 27, 2023, following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and selected the late governor’s kinsman from Owo as his deputy.
