No fewer than eight persons were killed and scores injured during a fresh clash between farmers and herders in Kodomun Community of Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident was confirmed by the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, on Friday.
The police disclosed that a combined security team had been dispatched to the area to restore normalcy, with no arrests made so far.
The clash, a yearly occurrence, has claimed several lives and destroyed livestock and property worth millions of naira over times.
The latest clash was allegedly triggered by the killing of a youth in Kodomun by suspected herders.
It was reliably gathered that the crisis spread to neighboring communities of Kudiri, Sabonlayi, Kwayine, and Gorogbakai villages.
Addressing a meeting in the palace of the Hama Batta following the clash, His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, the Chairman of Demsa LGA, Akham Jalo, urged the community to maintain calm, calling on stakeholders to find a lasting solution to end the lingering problem.
