Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has reportedly been suspended from her role as a member of the Labour Party (LP) at her ward in Asari Toru Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State.
Hilda Dokubo, the LP's influential chairman in Rivers, is currently embroiled in a scandal of historic proportions.
According to the Peoples Gazette, she is accused of a slew of serious offenses, including financial wrongdoing, misuse of office, and a flagrant violation of party rules, among others.
Dokubo was suspended on July 15 during an emergency meeting of the party's ward executive committee and confirmed by the Asari Toru LGA executives of the LP on July 18.
A letter was sent to the LP chairman of Asari Toru LGA informing him of the suspension.
The letter was signed by a number of ward leaders, including chairman Ajalamonia Ibama, secretary Lole Amacheer, and the Treasurer Emmanuel Ibamathe.
Osaki Dieypiriye, the women's leader, and Osaki Dokubo, the press secretary, both signed the incendiary document, adding weight to the charges.
In a show of commitment, the ward executives claimed to have undertaken a thorough inquiry into the claims against Dokubo before deciding to suspend her.
In their fervent declaration, the party officials underscored their unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity and high ethical standards of the Labour Party.
They stressed that no one, regardless of their status, is above the law or the party’s stringent regulations.
