Nigerian actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has called for a demonstration on the one-year anniversary of singer Mohbad's death.
In a post on his Instagram page, Fabiyi asked Nigerians to attend the next coroner's inquest court session.
He also advocated holding rallies on the first anniversary of Mohbad's death to press for justice if no progress is made in the next session.
He wrote: “Let’s storm the court peacefully and attend the next coroner’s inquest and protest to register our demands on this case. If nothing tangible is seen or heard, we focus on the day of the one-year anniversary.”
Recall that Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian record label, died on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances.
Following the social media debates surrounding his death, the Lagos State Police Command formed a 13-man special investigation team to look into it.
On September 21, 2023, his body was unearthed and an autopsy was carried out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The pathologist who performed the autopsy told the coroner's court a few months later that the test could not determine the cause of Mohbad's death since the body had decayed.
The singer's family members, who were dissatisfied with the results, demanded an independent autopsy.
