Abuja Man Secures Abducted Wife, Daughters’ Freedom With N2.8M Ransom

Mistura Olasinde and her two daughters, Hauwa and Fatima, were abducted on Friday, September 8, 2023, while driving home in their Toyota Highlander from Garki to Starwood Estate, Galadimawa, in Abuja, The abduction occurred at Kabusa Garden Estate, where the road conditions were poor. The kidnappers emerged from nearby bushes, fired shots to intimidate, and then took the victims into the forest. Local residents promptly contacted the Galadimawa Divisional Police Officer, Jerry Cole, who led a team of policemen and vigilantes in a search operation. However, their efforts were unsuccessful. The kidnappers initially demanded a ₦100 million ransom but later reduced it to ₦50 million and then ₦10 million. Eventually, they accepted ₦2.84 million and instructed the family to deliver it on a Saturday night. Channels TV reports that the ransom was delivered by the victim's brother-in-law and another individual using a motorcycle. After receiving the ransom, Mistura Olasinde and her daughters were released. Mistura Olasinde and her daughters sustained injuries during the abduction. They are also experiencing psychological trauma and have been taken to a hospital for medical care. Mistura Olasinde's husband, Surajudeen Olasinde, has called on President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, to intervene and improve security in the area. The Chairman of Residents of Starwood Estate, Kayode Adedoyin, mentioned that several kidnapping incidents have occurred in the area, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures. The Galadimawa DPO, Mr. Jerry Cole, directed inquiries to the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, who stated that the command was yet to be briefed on the situation and promised to provide updates once informed.
