The House of Representatives member for Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in Abia State, Obi Aguocha, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to help secure the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Aguocha, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, stated that the release of Nnamdi Kanu would show a commitment to promoting peaceful progress in the South East and the welfare of the Igbo people.
He mentioned that Nnamdi Kanu, Omoyele Sowore, Sunday Igboho, and Godwin Emefiele are all Nigerian citizens accused of different offenses by the government.
He said Sowore and Igboho are free men because of the determination of the judiciary to protect the rights of the citizens, while Emefiele, by the determination of the judiciary, has been granted bail in the sum of N50M.
He said further that while it is their constitutional right to freedom, Nnamdi Kanu has not been accorded the same right wondering whether he was not a Nigerian citizen.
