According to reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, disqualified the results of the governorship elections in the states of Enugu and Abia because they did not match the number of registered voters.
Recall that the collation of the Enugu and Abia governorship election results had been suspended by the electoral commission.
Result collation in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State was reportedly disrupted, and candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) said there were abnormalities in the collation of results from the Nkanu East and Nsukka LGs of Enugu State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the commission added that it would evaluate the results with the local administrations in the two states that were impacted.
Reporters have heard, nevertheless, that the commission had rejected the purportedly inflated results and ordered that the proper things be done after carefully reviewing the exercise.
"The outcome will shortly be made public. Results from Enugu and Abia have already been reviewed," the source said.
According to the source, the commission also mandated a review of the Enugu State governorship election results from last Saturday.
With the postponement of the announcement of the results of the governor's election, tension has increased in both the Abia and Enugu States.
